I think Mark’s right though, that a DemoCamp for world altering ideas might need to relax the ‘no powerpoint’ rule, there are lots of important ideas out there that don’t have a UI to demo. I don’t have a problem with that change, in fact it could be a good thing I suspect.

Re: We bring imagination to life

As an FYI, Bumptop was at TED this year and people loved it!

Re: We bring imagination to life

David, I think you nailed it. We should all dare to think big thoughts. By raising the bar on the Democamp scene to this level who knows what might come of it.

The past 18 months of building this community has paid of. There is some cohesion occurring and many talented and passionate people are interacting in ways that they didn't and couldn't before.

You helped create that and I thank you. I also thank you for refusing to let it languish in mediocrity and to actually serve a bigger purpose than that of social interaction or building personal fame and cred. I consider my bar officially raised.

Re: We bring imagination to life

Yes, yes, yes. Push things forward. Aim for a thick fog of pink mist.

Re: We bring imagination to life

Wow! Yes. I think. We need to raise our sights and improve our thinking. We need to inspire and captivate an audience. We also need to have the ability to execute our crazy schemes, find community, improve ourselves and each other.

What does this mean? What does such a beast look like? I’m not sure, but it might involve some Powerpoint or Keynote…but hopefully using lots of Visual Thinking to communicate the big ideas as well as opportunities to see the gears whir if you’ve got code.

Hmm…thinking…
