XHTML 1.1 is of no interest whatsoever, nor will be in our lifetimes, and iframe is a perfectly viable element, replete with alternate forms.
And no, of course object doesn't work in IE/Win. That's why it can't be used on a production site.

Happy to see I'm not the only one searching for a solution. But Ho! the Object tag in IE, (I don't have windows and mac IE is so.), I've managed quite well lately, see <a href="http://3spots.blogspot.com/2006/02/tag-game-tagman.html <a href="http://3spots.blogspot.com/2006/02/tag-game-tagma.../>where" target="_blank">http://3spots.blogspot.com/2006/02/tag-game-tagma.../>where I 'blog this'-ed a game so poeple can directly play, quite interessting against content theft.
